Candle Care & Tips
At Kala~Muse, we believe that a well-loved candle can bring calm, joy, and a touch of magic into any moment. Here’s how to make the most of your handcrafted candles—and how to care for them with love.
🕯️ How to Burn Your Candle Right
1. First Burn is Key
Let the wax melt completely to the edges of the container on the first burn (usually 2–3 hours). This helps prevent “tunneling” and sets the stage for an even burn.
2. Trim Your Wick
Always trim your wick to about ¼ inch before each use. This keeps the flame steady, prevents soot, and helps your candle last longer.
3. Burn Time
Avoid burning your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Let it cool before relighting for best results.
4. Safe Placement
Place your candle on a heat-resistant surface, away from fans, curtains, or anything flammable. Never leave it unattended.
Note: If your candle has decoration embeds like pearls, beads, or dried flowers, please remove them after the first burn.
5. Stop at the Base
Stop burning your candle when about ½ inch of wax remains to prevent the container from overheating or cracking.
✨ Our Candles Are…
- Made with 100% natural waxes (like soy or coconut blends)
- Scented with non-toxic, phthalate-free fragrance oils
- Hand-poured in small batches for quality and charm
♻️ Reuse & Repurpose
Our jars are too lovely to toss!
- Glass & Tin Jars: Clean them out with hot water and use as planters, spice containers, tealight holders, or pen stands.
- Concrete Jars: Repurpose as trinket trays, mini organizers, or elegant vanity storage.
💡 Quick Troubleshooting
Why is my candle tunneling?
It didn’t burn long enough on the first use. Let it melt edge to edge next time to fix the memory ring.
Why is the top bumpy or frosty?
That’s totally normal for natural waxes—no chemicals, no gloss! It’s a sign your candle is clean and handmade.
Why is my candle smoking or flickering?
The wick may be too long. Snip it to ¼ inch before relighting.
❤️ A Candle is More Than a Flame
It’s a mood-setter. A ritual. A reminder to pause.
And with a little care, your Kala~Muse candle will keep shining bright—for you and your space.
